Cocolitofóridos identificados en el fitoplancton de aguas ecuatorianas OceanDocs

Muestras del fitoplancton de aguas de mar y de red de arrastre fueron recolectadas abordo del B.A.E "ORION" del Instituto Oceanográfico de la Armada, durante el período de 1972 -1979. La mayor parte de las especies fueron identificadas mediante el microscopio estandar de Zeiss con optovar incorporado, y el microscopio invertido utilizado para los contajes celulares. La identificación de las células más pequeñas fue confirmada con el Microscopio Electrónico de Barrido. 37 especies de cocolitofóridos fueron reconocidos y serán incorporados en los conteos celulares de las investigaciones futuras. Effects de le temperature et du regime alimentaire sur certains parametres de l'immunite cellulaire du loup de mer en elevage ArchiMer

The data showed that antibody response and NK cells activity of a teleostean fish Dicentrarchus labrax (Loup de mer) were maximal when animals were bred at a temperature equal to 18 degree C. A proteinoprive diet enhanced T cytotoxic response and diminished NK cell activity. A fast of 15 days had no effect on these two cellular responses.

Etude cytologique ultrastructurale des anomalies hepatiques du loup, de la daurade, et de l'anguille, induites par une alimentation artificielle ArchiMer

In the three species Dicentrarchus labrax, Sparus auratus , and Anguilla anguilla an artificial feeding (dry pellets) disturbs liver cells as revealed at ultrastructural level. In hepatocytes, anomalies consist of lipids storage (liposomes) considered as deviation in fatty acids metabolism. Moreover are observed cellular alterations (mitochondrial vacuolization, nuclear pycnosis) related to degenerative process. It is of great interest to understand wether liver modifications are just a reaction to an unbalanced feeding or a true trophic pathology.

Fine cytochemical localization of lysosomal organelles in phagocytic cells of bivalve molluscs. ArchiMer

Bivalve molluscs possess several types of hemolymph cells (hemocytes), involved in internal defense and other physiological functions. Studies in pathological and experimental conditions have shown their micro- and macrophagic ability. However, the mechanisms of intracellular digestion are incompletely known in these organisms. The lysosomal apparatus of hemocytes was therefore investigated in several species by hydrolase localization with the electron microscope. The cytoplasmic granules of granulocytes displayed a strong acid beta -glycerophosphatase activity. Previous observations had shown that these granules may contain phagocytized material. Histological study of a cellular reaction in Ruditpaes decussatus infected by a protozoan ArchiMer

An infection caused by a Perkinsus -like parasite has been observed in Ruditapes decussatus from Portugal (Comps and Chagot, 1987). Following a pathological study carried out on clams affected by mortalities in the Algarve area, this parasite was found again, inducing a reaction process in the host. Histological examination reveals the parasite in the connective tissue of different organs. The adjoining tissues, particularly the epithelia, are not affected.

Localisation immunohisto chimique de peptides apparentes aux hormones de vertebres chez Pecten maximus ArchiMer

Substances related to vertebrate peptidic hormones have been searched by immunohistochemical methods in Pecten maximus . Neurosecretory cells have been detected in the nervous ganglia with antisera raised against vertebrate hormones, gastrin/CCK like, glucagon like, insuline like, somatostatine like. Other gastro-intestinal hormones like are localized in some cells of the gut epithelium: bombesine and vasoactive intestinal peptide.

Primary culture of hepatic cells from Metynnis roosevelti (Pisces, Teleostei, Characidae) Braz. J. Vet. Res. Anim. Sci.

In order to achieve monolayers and adhesion in cell cultures of hepatocytes from the subtropical fish Metynnis roosevelti (Pisces, Teleostei, Characidae) three different methodologies were used: enzyme cell dissociation by means of a system containing trypsin and versene 0.25%; by means of bovine fetal serum and by the use of blood serum obtained from adult specimens of M. roosevelti. The cell medium used has been a modified F10-199 by the addition of 2 mM L-glutamine, 10 µg/mL insulin, 50 µg/mL fibronectin; and antibiotics. The best results in terms of cell dissociation as well as in terms of adhesion and confluence of the cells monolayer has been achieved by means of the enzymatic cell dissociation.

The crustacean integument is an excellent model for the study of cuticular morphogenesis, at different organization levels. At the supermolecular level, subunits of chitin and protein assemble and show the organization of a stabilized liquid crystal. At higher levels corresponding to cells and cells populations, several controls are involved in the fine architecture of the epicuticle, in the mineral distribution and in characters which concern the whole animal, such as isometric or allometric growth.

Trophic relationships gonad-intestinal loop in Pecten maximus . ArchiMer

Histological, histochemical and ultrastructural studies were performed on the region of the gonad traversed by the intestine in Pecten maximus . The results indicate a digestive and absorptive function of intestine epithelial cells and a transfer of metabolites to the surrounding gonad tissue. Several possible mechanisms of translocation are presented, including diffusion into the haemolymph and transfer via vacuolated cells of the gonad interstitial connective tissue.

Ultrastructure et activite de la glande salivaire de Patella safiana LMK (Mollusque, Gasteropode) ArchiMer

The ultrastructural study of the Patella safiana salivary gland reveals two types of cells: the dark cells containing round-shaped secretory vesicles of lamellar structure and the light cells which have homogenous and fibrous secretory granules that are star-shaped sometimes. The two types of cells have the cytological characteristics of high proteosynthetic activity cells.

Com o intuito de observar o efeito da aplicação do laser de baixa intensidade sobre a contagem de células somáticas no leite foram selecionadas 12 cabras lactantes mantidas em sistema semi-confinado de criação. Os animais devidamente identificados foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em dois grupos de seis, sendo que um grupo recebeu a aplicação de laser e o outro não. Diariamente, por um período de seis dias consecutivos foi retirada uma amostra de leite por animal, sendo que ao término da terceira, quarta e quinta ordenha foi aplicada uma dose de laser na intensidade de 0,6 J numa área depilada correspondente ao acuponto "Baihui posteior" pressionando-o com um laser de hélio-neônio com uma potência de 10 mW.
